Enhancing social protection by empowering CSOs in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In partnership with CARE International and financial contribution of Czech Development Agency and Czech Aid we create the conditions for improved access to social protection and care services for marginalised population. Their social protection rights are to be fulfilled and promoted. Participation of beneficiaries ensures community resilience and social cohesion.

Organisational capacities for social protection policy implementation at the national level are still not sufficiently developed. Strategic framework for social protection is not in place, as well as the mutual legislation to govern the process. Entities have their social protection systems in accordance with own needs, resources and strategic orientations. Activities conducted by CSOs and associations significantly encourage the development of social rights, protection and care f beneficiaries. Czech Aid therefore aims at empowering the NGOs to be able to support the fulfilment of social rights, protection and care of its citizens. The overall goal of Czech Aid-a is to contribute to Sustainable development goal 16: Development of efficient, responsible and transparent institutions at all levels.
Association “DUGA” will in cooperation with CARE International and financially supported by Czech Development Agency and Czech Aid implement the three-year project within the initiative for support of marginalised groups. The pro-ject activities are intended to empower the capacities of seven NGOs and im-prove the access to social rights, protection and care in BiH. NGOs support-ed by the initiative are: Amica Educa Tuzla, UG „Budućnost“ Modriča, Associa-tion “DUGA” Sarajevo, UG „Otaharin“, Sarajevski otvoreni centar, Association of individuals with CP and dystrophy Goražde and UG „Nešto više“ Istočno Sa-rajevo.
Project activities are to:
• empower the local NGOs at institutional and managerial level, through the development of strategic and financial planning, provision of trainings and resource allocation;
• develop NGO capacities at the professional level through trainings, work placements, study visits, etc;
• improve the cooperation in the community by ensuring better access to services and institutions;
• increase the community resilience and social cohesion by promoting the beneficiary participation.
